For children aged 7-17 years “Genetic Influences on learning and behavior in individuals with Down syndrome”. The study will involve 90-120 minutes of testing in one or two visits. Most tests will be done on a computer. A small blood sample will be taken and parents will complete two short questionnaires on medical history and behavior. Contact Kay Taylor at taylork@kennedykrieger.org 443-923-9143.

For children aged 10-17. Study will test the drug rivastigmine to see if it will help improve memory, speech and language function. This is a double blind study which means that some people will get the drug and some will not…but you will not know which group you are in. Four 2 to 6 hour visits to Baltimore will be required over 24 weeks. Contact Cathleen Weadon at weadon@kennedykrieger.org 443-923-9140.

For individuals with Down syndrome aged 18-30. This study (BP25543) will look at a drug that is being developed to improve attention and memory. Individuals will take a drug during the 16 weeks of the study, and come to the clinic for tests and keep a journal of side effects, etc. Contact Carrie Blout for info 410-502-7535.
