Valerie Marsden-Gray

President

Valerie Marsden-Gray is the mother of two children, the youngest of whom has Down syndrome.

The idea for the Jersey Shore Down Syndrome Association was born not long after the birth of Valerie Marsden-Gray’s second child. “There is such a desperate need for an organization of this type in the area. Some of the experiences that our parents have been through are stressful and frightening, and completely avoidable. Parents need a reliable source for information and access to proven resources, as well as a supportive community environment, and we can provide that”, says Marsden-Gray.

Valerie is also currently involved with the following organizations:

  • NDSS, DS Ambassador for NJ
  • Ocean County Commission For Individuals With Disabilities, Commissioner
  • NJDDD Regional Family Support Planning Council #6
  • Hawkswood School PTO, President

Valerie participated in the 2012 Buddy Walk on Washington, where she had the opportunity to meet with lawmakers from the state to discuss policy.

While in Washington, she attended the 2012 DSAIA Conference representing JSDSA, recipient of a DSAIA scholarship.
